That's why I love the 2-minute rule. The 2-minute rule is a concept created by David Allen in his book Getting Things Done. The main point is that, if we have a task that can be completed in less than two minutes then we should do it right away. No hesitation, no time to think. If it'll take longer than two minutes, we should write it down on a list to return to when we have more time.
How do I put that to work? In times where I know I am pushing off a tough task that starts with something very simple, I tell myself to just do the simple thing first.
For example, writing a blog post. The first task involves logging in to WordPress to create a new post. I tell myself, hey the log in takes a minute, just do it. Once I'm logged in, I'm suddenly okay with writing a ppost. It's about that initial resistance. Find the starter/the appetiser to your main course and then you'll be pulled in.
In other news, I finally found a recipe that made me like BROWN RICE! I used to be one of those who firmly believed brown rice in an abomination, a disrespect to white rice. Why torture yourself for a few more grams of fiber and eat sad brown rice when you can add some extra veggies for fiber and eat white rice?!
But a Lebanese Mujadra is the perfect recipe to turn a brown rice skeptic into a brown rice lover (unless you have gut issues). It's a brown rice and lentil dish cooked in spices and topped with caramelised onions. And, if you don't know already, fried/caramelised onions are the ultimate umami-punch aromatic garnish ever! Let me know if you ever give it a try! I paired it with a simple sautéed carrot dish and some soy yoghurt.
